Hamilton Creek Brewery

The Brews of HCB

Quite a range, always something different, and always something you'll settle right into! For each beer, we provide the following bits of info:

Style: This is a basic, loose identification of the kind of beer. Styles overlap quite a bit. Generally, we try to stick with the Brewers Association Style Definition library. You can review that information here: http://www.brewersassociation.org/pages/publications/beer-style-guidelines

O.G.: Original Gravity. This is the specific gravity of the wort at the beginning stage of fermentation.

SRM: This is the color reference. Here is a table for reference: LINK

IBU: International Bitterness Units. The level of hoppiness in the beer.

ABV: Alcohol by Volume.

Flat Tire Ale

Amber Ale

Original Gravity: 1.053, SRM (Color): 11, ABV: 5.25%, IBU (Bitterness): 26
A medium bodied copper ale with velvety caramel overtones and a slight roasty flavor. With little hop presence, this brew is all about the malt. It'll stand up to just about any food pairing, but is just fine all on it's own!

Crystal Amber

Amber Ale

Original Gravity: 1.057, SRM (Color): 15, ABV: 5.6%, IBU (Bitterness): 28
Three degrees of crystal malt combine to produce a deep-hued amber ale. Originally based this on the Alaskan Amber clone, we found a winner recipe that is a real crowd-pleaser. This one never stays on the bar very long!

PIG

American Blonde Ale

Original Gravity: 1.049, SRM (Color): 3.5, ABV: 4.5%, IBU (Bitterness): 22.2
Why PIG, you ask? It's for piss in a glass, for it's golden color! This is an easy-drinking, light ale with medium hop aroma. A Perfect drink for kicking back on a hot day.

Orc's Blood

American Stout

Original Gravity: 1.080, SRM (Color): 50, ABV: 8.3%, IBU (Bitterness): 37
A dark and velvety Stout from HCB's own fearless Dragon Slayer, Patio.

Dick Cheney

APA

Original Gravity: 1.060, SRM (Color): 8.9, ABV: 7.5%, IBU (Bitterness): 38.3
It's bitter, mean and nasty, and it'll shoot you in the face. No wait, it will "get you faced" - close enough. Also known as Vice Presidential Pale Ale. Brewed with Pale Malt and a touch of Munich, Amarillo Hops top off this Imperial Pale Ale

When the Leffe Breaks

Belgian Ale

Original Gravity: 1.074, SRM (Color): 6, ABV: 7%, IBU (Bitterness): 21.6
We based this Belgian on Leffe (obviously). It's light in color, but heavy in taste. Sweet and malty, with a fruity nose.

Midnight Oil

Brown Porter

Original Gravity: 1.054, ABV: 5.4%, IBU (Bitterness): 24
The beds are burnin'. This basic porter recipe is good for getting you through those long cold nights.

Burning Axe Wound

Fruit Beer

We take the second runnings from Leffe, boil it down, then add Raspberry Compote to the fermentation. Whaddya get? One awesomely fruitaceous pale ale. We have "Big Scott" to thank for this.

Shammy Side Up

India Pale Ale

Original Gravity: 1.061, SRM (Color): 11.3, ABV: 5%, IBU (Bitterness): 55
A special IPA brewed for the Nashville Mountain Bike club. We start with a healthy amount of Marris Otter then add some Munich and Carapils. Hop bill is all Pacific Northwest - Cascade!.

Opening Day Ale

Kolsch

Original Gravity: 1.047, SRM (Color): 4.2, ABV: 4%, IBU (Bitterness): 20.1
We brew this for MLB opening day. It's the same grain bill as AllStar Ale. The only difference is that we use American variety hops on this one (Mt. Hood usually).

All Star Ale

Kolsch

Original Gravity: 1.064, SRM (Color): 4.1, ABV: 5%, IBU (Bitterness): 22
Typically, we brew this batch in time for the MLB All Star Break.

My Baby Daddy

Maibok

Original Gravity: 1.075, SRM (Color): 5, ABV: 6%, IBU (Bitterness): 26.4
Brewed this only once -- in January of 2007. This was in anticipation of Lana's birth in May of that year. Grain bill: Pilsner, Vienna, Carapils and flaked barley. Hops: Hallertau & Tettnanger.

Mexican Hat Dance

Munich Dunkel

Original Gravity: 1.048, SRM (Color): 21.9, ABV: 4.7%, IBU (Bitterness): 5.8
This dark lager will have you craving chips 'n salsa before you know it. Munich, Victory and Chocolate malt combine to create a toasty presence. We finish it off late-addition noble hops to fill your nose with spicy aroma! One sip, and it'll be mas cerveza, por favor.

Strong Guy Ale

Old Ale

A decocted Old Ale, almost barley wine strength with a deep red color

Weed Seed & Mow

Pale Ale

Brewed for Howard (a good friend of HCB), this is a classic Summertime aka "Lawnmower" Beer

Cheesy Chocolate

Porter

Original Gravity: 1.051, SRM (Color): 54.6, ABV: 4.7%, IBU (Bitterness): 25.6
There's a lot going on in this beer. Based on a basic Irish Porter recipe, we add some Belgian Aromatic and Chocolate Malt to the grain bill. Smoked hickory chips give it a roasty finish. Won first place at the 2007 Peach State Brew-Off (Wood Aged Porters)

Scottish Ale

Scottish Ale

Original Gravity: 1.063, SRM (Color): 11.3, IBU (Bitterness): 21.5

Spiced Seasonal Ale

Clint's Coffee Stout

Stout

Robust stout with a slight coffee presense

MacLeod

Strong Scottish Ale

Original Gravity: 1.076, ABV: 8%, IBU (Bitterness): 28
A noble brew you'll want to last forever. This Strong Scotch Ale is huge on malt and caramel with just enough hobs to notice. And like its namesake, it keeps its head! This took a blue ribbon at the 2007 Peach State Brew-Off (Strong Scottish Ales). "There can be only one... "
